Happy Birthday Teeling Whiskey Distillery – 3 Years Old!!
In 2015 Dublin saw “new generation of Irish whiskey distillers” enter the market. The Teeling distillery was the first new distillery to open in Dublin in a 125years and the first to start distilling in Dublin in over 40 years. Needless to say they led a wave of excitement for the city and county of Dublin. Based in the historic liberties area, known for warehousing whiskey as well as production with 37 distilleries producing in the area. For Jack and Stephen Teeling it was more of personal reason behind locating to the Liberties as they uncovered in their family history. As 1782 saw their ancestor Walter Teeling establish his very own distillery on Marrowbone Lane in the Liberties district of Dublin.
This month saw the Teeling distillery celebrate their official third birthday. They launched the distillery to the press and industry with a big party on the 9th of June 2015 and open its doors to the public the following Saturday, the 13th of June. It was quite the party, and they have many since celebrating success after success. With bated breath they will find out at the end of the month if they have won Europe’s Leading Distillery Tour at the World Travel Awards which are to be announced on 30th June 2018. Quite a prestigious award, with over 300,000 visitors since they opened their doors, their chances of winning are high, having won awards each year for their exceptional visitor experience.
Here at the The Whiskey Trail we are eagerly awaiting our first sip of their first Dublin produced pot still whiskey which comes of age this August when they will release the first celebratory 250 bottles from their very first cask, after which the following bottled Dublin Teeling whiskey will be released in October making the Teeling Single Pot Still being available to all. Exciting times ahead for whiskey enthusiasts, Dublin locals and Teelings alike, until then why not join us on one of our whiskey trails in which we feature Teelings Whiskey.
