Copper Alley Single Malt is a limited edition release from The Liberties Distillery in Dublin City. The Copper Alley follows on from the success from the ever popular ‘Oak Devil’. It was officially launched in late September 2016 and has proved to be quite popular.
A ten year old single Malt aged in ex-American Bourbon oak casks then finished in 30 year-old Oloroso sherry barrels for around 6 months. Only thirty one casks were used therefore limiting its availability.
“ohhhh, now that is a nose – Paul.”
On the nose this whiskey offers a delightful yet eclectic blend of aromas. There is a wonderful mix of fresh orange mingling with olorosso sherried tones. Flickers of dandelions, honeyed ginger and walnuts make for an intriguing and developing nose.
The palate is juicy, with honey toasted nuts, spice, wild meadow flowers with a kiss of mandarin. The palate develops nicely with sherried autumnal fruit, caramel and a gentle flicker of ginger on the finish.
On a whole this whiskey is elegant, it has a great body and silky texture. At 46% it is quite a balanced whiskey, add its long length, you will enjoy this for some time.
“Quite a cheeky little number – Aoife”
