Slane Distillery, the recently-opened whiskey distillery located on the historic grounds of Slane Castle in the Boyne Valley, will be converted into a picturesque Christmas village this December.
The courtyard in the centre of the 250-year-old Georgian stables that now houses Slane Distillery will be transformed with the addition of traditional log cabins selling a selection of gift-ware, local artisan produce, and locally produced confectionery. With these new additions, visitors to Slane Distillery this festive season have the opportunity to pick up the perfect stocking filler, along with a little something for themselves.
Visitors to the Slane Distillery Christmas Market will also have the chance to avail of a range of tasty food offerings available at the food trucks in the distillery, coupled with a Slane Winter Spiced Apple Punch, a warming Slane Irish Whiskey cocktail made with local Cockagee Cider, for those feeling the winter chill.
On top of shopping for special one-of-a-kind gifts for their loved ones, indulging in tasty treats, and sampling the expertly crafted sampling the expertly crafted Slane Irish Whiskey, visitors to Slane Distillery can enjoy plenty of entertainment this Christmas. Live music will be provided in the distillery’s Whiskey Lounge every Friday and Saturday evening from a selection of artists, including the up-and-coming Tipperary band, FarHaven.
Speaking about the Christmas celebrations at the distillery, Slane Irish Whiskey co-founder Alex Conyngham said: “We’re delighted to bring a sprinkle of Christmas cheer to Slane this December. In addition to offering our guests a range of festive fun, the market also provides local producers and businesses the opportunity to showcase the range of expertly made artisan produce coming from the distillery’s surrounding area. At Slane Distillery, we are honoured to bring whiskey production back to the Boyne Valley and proud to support our neighbours who are creating some of the best artisan produce in the country.”
Slane Distillery Christmas Market will open its doors from Friday, November 30 with a tree lighting ceremony in the centre of the courtyard at 7.30pm. Following the official opening, the Christmas Market will run every Friday from 5pm to 9pm, Saturday from 2pm to 9pm and Sunday from 2pm to 7pm until Sunday, December 23. Entry to the market is free and visitors of all ages are welcome.
