There is Method in the Madness
Method and Madness Single Grain is the first official release of a single grain whiskey from Irish Distillers. The Method and Madness range reinforces Irish Distillers’ commitment to experimentation and innovation at the Midleton Distillery; to the extent that they have installed a purpose built micro-distillery in Midleton, in which to trail new styles. This single grain Irish whiskey is finished in toasted Virgin Spanish Oak from Galicia for twelve months.
Tasting notes: Method and Madness Single Grain
The nose is fresh with aromas of a freshly cut meadow, ripe pear and a light caramel. As it develops you notice faint tones of banana, star anise and pine.
The palate is as the nose suggests, elegant. The aromas from the nose flow gently onto the palate with the addition of toast, fermented lemons, peanuts and barley. There is a beautiful minerality to this whiskey which adds to the delicate length of the whiskey.
This is a gentle and beautiful whiskey that is a little too easy to enjoy. The addition of the virgin Spanish oak was very well executed, allowing the whiskey to star with the backup of the oak.
