Limited Edition Sherry Cask Finish
Hyde whiskey was created to pay homage to our first president Douglas Hyde. This Irish whiskey has a quality that would delight any president. Hyde Whiskey is matured and ‘finished’ in the idyllic landscape and temperate climate of county Cork, on the Wild Atlantic way in south west Ireland.
We were fortunate enough to taste this with a small group of friends and it really was something special. We all agreed it was a “Sherry Bomb” if you are a fan of sweet whiskeys, vanilla and dolops of sweet cream, this is the one for you.
The whiskey comes from one Irish distillery (as we said, it’s a single malt) and which was initially matured in bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period in first fill Oloroso Sherry casks. It’s bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration. A release of 5,000 bottles.
For the Hyde family it’s all about the specially selected casks and unique woods which give their Irish whiskey it’s unique flavour. This release is simple, not overly complex, but in it’s simplicity it is delicious.
