Limited Edition Special Reserve Bottled at 46% abv and Non-Chill Filtered
Hyde No.6 is a blended whiskey that consists of 8 year old grain and 18 Year Old Single malt whiskeys. It does not have any age statement on the bottle, but who cares when the liquid is just this damn good. I have tried most of the releases from Hyde Irish Whiskey but this one is special.
Hyde No.6 is one of the best releases from Hyde Irish Whiskey to date. It is a special limited edition and I’d recommend picking up a bottle soon before they are gone. The President’s Reserve is selected from the master blenders very special selection of old reserve Irish whiskey casks and only 5000 bottles have been released. The Whiskey is named 1938 in honour of Ireland’s very first President, Douglas Hyde, who was inaugurated into office on the 28th of June 1938.

NOSE
Lavender, lemon, plantain, caramel, and oak. Vanilla fights its way to the fore, green bananas, caramel, oak follows in the background with some wine notes. Incense and nutmeg.
TASTE
This whiskey has a luxurious mouthfeel, creamy, smooth and velvety. It’s like placing a square of milk chocolate on your tongue and enjoying it melt. Vanilla dissolves into cereals notes mixed with a light spice. The vanilla and chocolate melt away, as a faint touch of coffee appears.
FINISH
Hyde No.6 has a great creaminess from its time in ex bourbon barrels. the malt is balanced perfectly against the younger grain an enjoys undertones of green fruits and light chocolate notes from the sherry cask. Bottled at 46% ABV you might expect a slight alcohol burn. But there is none, a light spices remains on the finish with a light warmth that leaves you wanting more, more, more.
