Peg Whisky has just released their first ever Small Batch Exclusive. Peg Whisky Small Batch Exclusive Series 1 is bottled at 46% and non-chill filtered, there is only 3000 bottles released in Series 1. This whisky is an easy-drinking blended Scotch. I tried this one initially in a Glencarin whiskey glass and then a Tuath Glass the former seemed to focus the dark woody notes and bitter spices. A Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Ezra Brooks is one of the most well known American bourbon’s distilling genuine Kentucky spirit since 1957. This bourbon is the high end of the Ezra Brooks line, an old name in bourbon. The spirit is distilled at Heaven Hill and aged in Luxco’s warehouses in Louisville. In 2018, it found a new home in Bardstown the Bourbon Capital of the World. Knappogue Castle Cask Finish Series Aged in French Oak Casks from The Chateau Pichon Baron Winery
I’m a big fan of wine cask finishes and anytime I get to try something different I jump at the chance. Irish Whiskey brands have deep roots and connections with the French wine industry. But when I heard that Knappogue had plans to collaborate with Chateau Pichon I knew someting special was about to hit the shelves. This is a very limited edition and only 1100 bottles were released. The casks used here are the best of the best, offering flavours of red grapes with a medium body, sweet tannin’s, good acidity and balanced. Nice black cherry fruits, cassis, cedar wood and leathery spices are to be discovered.
